A quality Fin Press is essential for the manufacture of stamped fins. Even the best press, however, cannot produce a quality fin without a high quality tool. In some ways, as critical as roll form tools are to fin forming, stamped fin tooling might be even more critical. In order to design and produce a stamped fin tool capable of maintaining fin characteristics over wide widths and difficult height/density aspect ratios, precision must be maintained for every aspect of the tool from the forming blades to the holder.
Innovative Automation is very familiar with the characteristics that make for a good stamped tool design. We have produced numerous tools for offset, wavy, herringbone, and plain fins. We have produced tooling for aluminum fins as well as for high strength materials like Inconel and Stainless Steel.
All of the tooling that we produce is tested in our in-house fin presses prior to being released to the customer. This allows us to understand very well how a tool runs and what characteristics of the tool support particular attributes of the fin. Thorough documentation of each tool design allows us to understand more thoroughly how the design and manufacture of the tool impacts fin quality.
